I want to say Skins, because Series 3 felt awkward at parts, 4 ended badly, and Season 5 was good, but not universally brilliant like Series 1 & 2 were. And then Series 6 took me by surprise and slayed my existence.

I mean Skins was good from start to finish, but Series 1 & 2 captured something they really struggled to re-create. And when they stopped trying to recreate it, that's when it became good again.

I'm sure there are plenty of shows that follow this.

And Skins, as has already been said. The quality of the show decreased through the generations. 1 >>>>> 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>> the others. The first 2 seasons (gen 1) are classic television though. I still get feels thinking about Chris's last storyline.
