Your obsession for these two girls is just

Taylor went from country music to releasing a pure pop album while maintaining huge succes and acclaim. She evolved slowly, but she did.

Katy did evolve too. OOTB is sligthly different musically from TD, and her image too. PRISM did not come as a change for most of you because she marketed it and herself the way she did with Teenage Dream. It is a more mature album than TD and sonically different.

Y'all wouldn't call PRISM a TD rehash had she released singles like Dark Horse, Unconditionally, Walking On Air, Legendary Lovers, Spiritual and By The Grace Of God with actual serious music videos.

It's not that she didn't evolve, she just played it safe thinking the GP wants the same sound from her. She tried to remake TD's succes, but she didn't realise that literally recreating the TD era was not the key. PRISM had so much potential to match TD succes and show a more mature and serious Katy at the same time, but her safe a** wasted it.

Someone having different albums (slightly) produced by different people without the artists even writing on them does not mean that they evolved

Someone can chose not to release albums for 10 years, does that mean that they can't evolve as artists/singers etc .?

For example Gaga has evolved a lot more than Rihanna as an artist, singer, performer and so on, even tho Rihanna's POP discography is more diverse.

Anyway I don't know, everyone evolves, just some do more than others.

- Kelly Clarkson and Avril Lavigne are still are forever doing the same pop rock thing. I don't get the Pink mentions, she evolved very early in her career and at least tries to do different things, like that folky side project.

- Lana Del Rey has been writing about sugar daddies, sad girls, party dresses etc. ad nauseam since that 2010 self-titled debut. Her lyrics are predictable at this point.

- Britney Spears has felt very stagnant for a while. I wish she'd quit trying to do teen pop like Pretty Girls and do something beyond the young club girl thing that she can no longer pull off.

For those who said Mariah, they clearly haven't explored her music, Mariah Carey - Butterfly - Glitter, they don't sound the same

90% of the thread is like that, only a few have given real examples, everyone else is just naming artist they don't like and then when they are asked to give examples they fail hard, nothing new on atrl

That's not obsession. I genuinely think that they didn't evolve even though I admit that you kinda have a point on Katy. Overall I don't think that any of those two has shown a significant artistic growth

and i actually disagree about Timberlake. he remains hiphop-pop but his music is plenty experimentative imo.

Katy hasnt evolved all that yet, but i dont hold that against her, shes only had 3 albums.. and she looks like she's going places
