She actually had a distinctive, quirky persona in the "One of the Boys" era and had a rock edge to her. She was kind of like the weirder Avril Lavigne in a sense.
She totally sold out to cater to the masses with a Teenage Dream and I'm not condemning her for it, it was a smart move business-wise but artistically she devolved. You could tell that OOTB was more of her as an artist, I mean aren't most of the tracks originally from her shelved album besides the two Dr Luke ones??
PRISM sounds like a whole album full of Teenage Dream rejects. Her persona, music, and overall appeal is exactly the same as it was in 2010. She is probably one of the most stagnant popstars out there, sorry if that offends you Katy stans but it's most people's take on her.
Doesn't mean I don't like her songs though, some of them are bops!

I completely agree with this. OOTB-era Katy was a LOT more unique....she had a lot more character, she stood apart, and was unlike anyone else. Her songwriting really shined and showed her personality. With TD and Prism, she kinda just recorded a variety of radio ready Pop songs to cater to the masses, and most of the songs could be sung by anyone. And like you said, it wasn't a bad move with TD because she had big success and they're catchy Pop songs, but as an artist I feel like she took a step backwards.
