Noel's misunderstood here. Take Morrissey now, he's what you'd call bitter or pressed, as he's clearly got a chip on his shoulder about a lack of "respect" being shown to him or whatever. But Noel... he's just an opinionated guy, who uses admittedly crass language to express himself. Like, it's not actually mean-spirited, as mean-spirited as it may sound.
It's hard to explain if you're from the wrong side of the pond. He's a combination of laddish northern English humour and Irish slagging. But he's not really putting people down.
I don't know why I'm even defending him so much, it's not like I'm a huge fan of his work.  |
It's a step above being opinionated if he's only in the news (well atrl) for derogatory remarks on his fellow musicians. His genre of music, age or longevity - none of these grant him automatic right to bitchiness .. thats exactly what he's doing. If he were female that word would have been used to qualify his notoriety.
Stop justifying it with background. I'm Irish. He's slagging them off and bluntly so too. Like i said, its no biggie to me. It's the pretentiousness here that reeks foul.
