I never quite understood how stars with so much charisma on stage can appear to be bad actors on screen.
I mean, their entire career is essentially "acting" - upholding a particular image, exuding confidence, taking on different roles/genres/characters. They've normally undergone intense media training on how to speak, walk, stand, etc. So it's always boggled my mind when popstars appear awkward in acting roles. You'd think acting would be like, an innate ability.
Its cause they have to suppress that charisma to become somebody completely different. Its only when they play characters that are familiar to them that they shine cause they are basically playing themselves. Madonna was always great playing herself in films like Desperately seeking Susan and League of their own. Even Dick Tracey. But she struggled whenever she had to become somebody very different cause she was fighting against her natural instincts. And it shows.
Out of the pop girls, she's probably (one of?) the best.
I'm impressed with her acting (note that this is her first actual role that's not a cameo!), and she's clearly getting better with every episode. I'm excited to see how she's improved for the second half of the season. Overall she's holding up to the rest of the cast quite well, and doesn't seem out of place.
That speaks a lot for yourself buddy. Gaga had a 2 minute CAMEO in Matchete Kills, not a ROLE, a CAMEO. She wasn't even her own character, what she played was one side of another character who was a chameleon or something. Laughable attempt.
