S01E01 Signature Challenge - Results!
The judges scored you on two different criteria: on how well it fit the challenge, and on how unique your entry was. Each criteria was scored out of five, added together, and averaged with the rest of the judges. Comments weren't required for this signature challenge, but Pears and I thought we'd still give you some feedback. Nobody will be eliminated this round, but these scores will be added with your challenge scores for the technical and showstopper challenges this episode.
1. Legend E - 9.125 - Diplo, Nicky Da B - Express Yourself
Quote:
Pears - This has similarities to matthew's in that it perfectly fits twerk, but the style is similar.
jpow - Love the song, a perfect song for twerking but not completely overplayed on the subject
|
2. Staryu - 8.625 - RuPaul - Peanut Butter
Quote:
Pears - Great song choice and interesting artist. Could be a little more interesting but that could be because I've already heard this many times, so I won't let it affect your score.
jpow - You did well to appeal to a panel full of gays with a RuPaul song
|
3. mwtthew - 8.125 - Le1f - Wut
Quote:
Pears - This entry is really good! It definitely has great twerk capability and I've also never heard of it so it's unique in that sense, but I don't think it's sound is the most unique.
jpow - I have never heard this song before, and it works totally for this challenge. It borders on typical club hip hop though.
|
4. Blommers - 8.000 - Donna Summer - Macarthur Park
Quote:
Pears - What a unique entry it has me laughing. You took it in a direction I didn't expect, but I love it.
jpow - I'm SCREAMING at the fact that this song is literally about moving your cakes......just out of the rain because you don't have that recipe anymore.
|
5. Genetic Fail - 7.875 - Kaotonix - Happy Birthday Song (Trap Style)
Quote:
Pears - I can see people twerking to this on vine or something. What an interesting and weird choice. Perfect uniqueness.
jpow - I hollered when I first saw this entry. It's so unique for this challenge, but fits too. Kudos
|
6. Jonasha - 7.500 - Lady - Twerk
Quote:
Pears - Didn't take much thought, but the song was a perfect fit.
jpow - I love me some Lady, but I would think her song ***** would do better here than Twerk.
|
6. Superpower - 7.500 - Big Sean - Dance (A$$)
Quote:
Pears - Great song choice but lacking uniqueness.
jpow - Probably the best song choice, but also the least original.
|
8. Fefe - 7.375 - Madonna - Into the Groove
Quote:
Pears - I wasn't expecting any Madonna songs! You took it kind of in the same direction as Bloomers, in that yours is just about dancing, whereas I kind of interpretted it as a song about asses/twerking. I like the uniqueness a lot. But it doesn't quite make me want to move my cakes. Although I'm sure in the 40's it did a good job of doing so.
jpow - A great, unexpected choice. It did miss some of the camp appeal that Macarthur Park did, but I still enjoyed it.
|
9. Rian. - 7.125 - Wale, Nicki Minaj, Juicy J - Clappers
Quote:
Pears - Thematically, works well. For uniqueness, there are many rap songs and songs of this style, so it's lacking in that department.
jpow - Similar to mwtthew's entry, I had never heard it and it works, but sounds very similar to a lot of other songs about the same subject.
|
10. Element - 6.750 - Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops
Quote:
Pears - I think some parts work, but some not as much. It's pretty unique.
jpow - I actually gave this my highest score of the challenge. It's my favorite Nelly song, the ending makes me want to GET DOWN unfortunately my fellow judges did not feel the same way about it.
|
11. Prismatic - 6.375 - Missy Elliot, Ciara - Lose Control
Quote:
Pears - This is the better entry of the songs by Ciara.
jpow - A bop, but a bop mostly unrelated to this challenge IMO.
|
12. lovesong - 5.500 - Destiny's Child - Booytlicious
Quote:
Pears - Works well but lacking uniqueness.
jpow - Good entry, but not outstanding in either criteria.
|
13. Marvin - 5.125 - Ciara - Goodies
Quote:
Pears - I find this a little more sensual than ratchet as I'd expect for a twerk song. I like that you used a song by your fave.
jpow - Good entry, but not outstanding in either criteria
|
14. Prezli - 3.625 - Beyonce - Deja Vu
Quote:
Pears - I don't see this working for twerk. Stylistically it's off for me and I also don't find it unique enough. But a great song.
jpow - I agree 100% with Pears.
