Poland being top 10? How? lol Their English is not very good

Speaking from experience, this survey proves absolutely nothing. Like most of people in Morocco are bilingual, speaking Arabic and French fluently, and to use English there is not a problem at all, most people know at least the basics. In Turkey I was able to converse in four different languages even far from the costal area where they are used to tourists.To use English is not a prblem in Egypt at all. But trying to speak English for example in Spain can be frustrating, you cant use English even in Tourist Information Centres in some areas (its much better in large cities tho). Italians and French people often refuse to speak English even when they can, they still try to help you out tho. Poland above Germany is travesty. The placement of Japan too, they should be at the bottom tbh.

I would like to see similar survey in English speaking countries tho, about how many of them can speak second or third language. I actually saw some statistics and the numbers were tragic.

Girl I've been to Portugal and not even ONCE I heard someone speak in English (even tho it was a tourist place).

I know also some Portuguese people here in London and their English is almost unintelligible. Their accent is terrible and they can't spell most of the words right.

Don't tell me Porgual has a great English level overall because you know it doesn't.

The Portuguese still speak better English. But yeah, it's mainly broken English. Nothing to brag about.

It's funny how France and Spain are the #1 and #3 tourist destinations respectively, and they can't speak English to save their lives.

Now that would be a tragic survey. There are some non-Hispanic Americans who know Spanish but their percentage is really small. Besides immigrants Americans are very monolingual. First place would be the UK I guess because they're in Europe (not counting places like Singapore, Philippines and South Africa)?

oh PLEASE. that is simply not true

& as for english-speaking countries speaking other languages being so rare is because it's simply not needed to learn another language. We excell at other things like sport.

How is English so low in France. I was there for two weeks and everyone knew English. They would always switch to it because I spoke French "with an American accent." But they liked me because apparently a lot of Americans come over and don't bother to learn the language. To a lot of them they pretend they don't know English lol.

Why do Mexicans struggle with English so much though. Every time I speak with one we have to switch to Spanish because apparently English is too hard a language to learn....
