I don't know how this is shocking to you. Kpop groups sing in Korean so its generally closed off to foreigners, it's a very homogenous genre because its based in Asia, though there are Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, etc etc members in many groups who learn to speak/sing in Korean.

South Korea is one of the most homogenous countries in the world.

Not all parts of Asia are homogenous. Asia =/= East Asia.
