Do you guys think pop producers just listen to contemporary mainstream pop when looking for inspiration?
DEAD, I love when pop music stans on here use that excuse. You think these grown ass producers are listening to Katy and Britney 24/7 just cause you do??
Some members are being so pretentious, though. Ever think that other people might not be exposed to artists such as Sleigh Bells, or maybe it isn't their goal to be totally educated on all popular music of today? I'm not really familiar with them, but I've heard Infinity Guitars before, and it's a bopT! I understand why they would be angry about the sampling, but it's only a drumbeat, so it's not that big of a deal... Still, it was clearly ripped from their work and they deserve some credit.
You guys are coming for Demi, acting like she personally stole something from Sleigh Bells. It does sound similar, but you don't even know whether Demi is familiar with the band or the song in the OP. And besides, she did co-wrote the song but did not produce it.
Sleigh Bells aren't some random small group, god you guys are ignorant.
There is a definite similarity there.
Thank you.
Around here if you're not a major pop artists they know nothing about music. But will be quick to google some microwavable fact as if they actually know something.

You don't need to have a meltdown just because someone doesn't care for the same type of music you do. I don't listen to dumbass white girl bands, get over it.
Dumbass WHITE Girl Bands.
WTF?!
They're FAR from that label my friend and make you sound even more ignorant.
And this is coming from a twenty something black dude.

To an extent yes it is. To claim you're in tune to music and know nothing about your peers is trash. I'm a musician and still find times to listen to what others are doing.
The not Demi's fault excuse is ********. Infinity Guitars is a recognizable track considering its been in movies, tv and commercials.

One thing that really annoys me is when these small artists claim a bigger, more established artist 'copied' them. I highly doubt Demi or her producers has even heard of this band, never mind being so blown away by their song that they decide to sample/steal a song. Get over yourself.
I don't care if an artist is "popular" or has a place on a chart. It's about the music and quality vs quantity. So I do listen to some less(er) known/successful acts. As someone else said though, not everyone is exposed to certain artists nor are they obligated to be. It also doesn't make you "better" if you are an indie artist or if you're a mainstream one. Outside of fanbases and the internet though, the GP is not going to be familiar with certain people.
Anyway, an artist's relevancy is not the issue here. Stealing is stealing regardless of popularity/success. If someone did indeed intentionally copy/steal from SR, then it is mostly the producers' fault since they are the ones who make the music. Demi just writes lyrics and provides the vocals. Even if she does claim to be "in tune" with what others are doing, she is still not obligated to be familiar with certain artists and there may be some that she hasn't been exposed to yet.
“We did not use any samples in Demi Lovato’s song ‘Stars.’ Demi was also not involved with the production. She only wrote top line,” producers Carl Falk and Rami told EW in a statement. Both have writing credits on the song as well.
