In fact most Adele fans are looking at her breaking N Syncs record which is about a million more than Britneys.

When you are a huge albums artist then yes you can.
Taylor debuts huge with her lead singles but even more in albums. Many rap artists greatly outsell there singles debut week with there album week. And same goes for many Indie/alternative artists. So Britney's record for largest Female debut week is going to be beat based on early projections. And Taylor's for largest this decade will also be beat. Now the question is, can Adele beat Nsync

It depends on the artist, but in Adele's case, 1.1 million for the single is a VERY good sign for the album.

I hate to break it to you but Britney's record is long gone, she's coming for NSync's.

We're witnessing history here cause she is setting records that are probably gonna stand for many years if not decades. If she gets the NSync record I dont see that ever being beaten.

But it's so close there. All depends how the next days play out on radio in particular. I took the big day for both Here and LIGLY there yesterday as an estimate for the week, but they might slow down. And Elle might pick it back up again.

A label doesn't release to get #1 singles

A label releases singles to sell them, to make money and to sell the album that goes along with it and to make the artist a bigger name to sell more in the future. They don't care one bit about #1 singles.

Taylor cares way more about #1's than her label does.

Bit surprised that Lean On dropped all the way to #17, but it had a very nice run.
