The divorce documents have been filed and now Usher is singing all about his separation from ex-wife Tameka Foster on “Papers,” the first offering from his sixth studio album, due in December.
The R&B superstar doesn’t hold back on the Sean Garrett-penned track, crooning, “For you I gave my heart and turned my back against the world/ ’Cause you were my girl, girl, girl/ I done damn near lost my mama/ I done been through so much drama/ I done turned into the man that I never thought I’d be/ I’m ready to sign them papers.”
It's a great song but not that much of a strong first single...It will be a hit since it's Usher and it's his first single but it's not a WOW first single.
Now that's more like the Confessions Usher right there this is definitely Burn Part 2 it has that Confession sound for real. This song deserves a shot at #1 but I'm not sure it will get there because there are so many good songs that didn't hit # 1 this year (Beautiful, Empire State of Mind, etc.)

Well ESOM hasn't even started yet. The video was just shot and the song isn't officially released until October 19th. So don't count it out yet!
Aside from that, the song is certainly not his best work. I don't understand how some artists want to hype up their comeback and give us some half-assed nonsense.
This indeed got the "Confessions" sound and that's a good thing. He's playing safe. It isn't something WOW, but I like it, I love the lyrics. It'll be an urban hit. Can't wait for the album.
