This is terrible. People who leave Hollywood Records never get anywhere. Hilary's music career is pretty much dead. I still can't stand how they abandoned her like that simply because Dignity didn't sell as many copies as Metamorphosis?!?! Thank God Jonas are flopping. Next to go will be Miley.
Vanessa's debut was pretty awesome. I think she'll never have a serious music career though. Maybe she'll do a Janet and have a hugely successful third album.

Jive is a so-so label to me. Their biggest artist is Britney, so they promote her alot . P!nk and Jordin have sold well and get average promo. Alot of the other artists (*cough* Backstreet Boys *cough*) arn't even getting promoted at all. No one but the fans know their new album comes out on Tuesday and Jive isn't supporting them.
Basically, Jive only promotes those whose singles and records sell. The only reason Ciara was promoted at all is because "Love, Sex, Magic" was doing really well on the charts. As long as you are selling records, they'll promote you. Jordin's three singles on her debut albums were all hits, as is "Battlefield" (the song), so she got a bunch of promo when her album came out. David Archuletta, though, after his album came out, Jive stopped promoting him. "Crush" was a big single, but his second single flopped.
Vanessa needs to sign with a better label. Def Jam would actually be a good choice (A Vanessa and Rihanna duet = )
Corbin, eh. His first album was very disney, but this last album he put out was actually pretty good. I can see him fading out though, since "A Beautiful Life" was canceled.

P!nk is under LaFace's umbrella. Jive and LaFace are both subsidy of Sony BMG.
With Britney, its pretty much safe to say that she's the biggest money raker for the company while IN or OUT of the psychiatric ward, so it pretty much makes sense why they give her top priority amongst their roster of artists. She's Britney freaking Spears.
Meanwhile, Vanessa's prime entrance to Jive will boost her pop mark on the industry. She's a pop tart and admit it, Jive does well with marketing pop products. The names you mentioned above are living proofs of Jive's excellent marketing ploys, with regards to imaging and wide appeal. V's better NOT sign with Def Jam! She'll turn into a ****, trust me.
And Corbin, are you kidding me?!

If Hollywood Records is a good label, then..
a.) Hilary Duff could've spawned a minimum of 4 hits with Dignity.
b.) Vanessa Hudgens could've been successful with V alone. They wasted "Drive", "Say OK", "Lose Your Love", and even "Let's Dance".
c.) They could've supported the artists with promotions and all.
and it's their fault Baby V and Hilary flopped.
Good day.

Most people already think Vanessa is a **** anyways because of her picture leaks.
At least if she is on a label that allows her to act her age and doesn't make her act younger than she is, she will be fine.

So I'll ask her what the deal is.
Rumor has it that Vanessa was trying to get out of her Hollywood Record's contract and move over to another label. So I'm guessing that they must have worked out some sort of deal. Last we had heard, they wouldn't let Vanessa out of her contract so she was supposed to go back in the studio. There was even a leak from a HR intern that showed the names of some song demos that were supposed to go to Vanessa about 2 months ago or so. Not to mention she received a downpayment from HR for a 3rd album according to the legal documents from this latest legal battle she had to deal with from her record producer that was a shark.
|
Yeah I saw that and it was suppose to be called Revolution and the first single She Wants U Back. I wonder if all those songs were demos of if Vanessa actually went in and recorded them. Did you get end asking her manager yet? Someone posted online that she was trying to leave Hollywood Records and "a certain diva was trying to help her" (the blog site wouldn't give the name). And they said Sean Garrett, Brian Kennedy, Ne-Yo, Timbaland were all on track for her third album. I think she can do well with Def Jam, it would go great with her image. She would just need some hits though, just putting out an album won't do much at this point.

Hollywood Records need to act like a real label and send songs to radios that AREN'T radio disney. And I mean all supposed single tracks by all their artists, not just PITU, 7 Things, and The Climb by Miley. Until then,

Beyonce is the rumored Diva...she performed with her at the Oscars
She Wants U Back is a real song and its on ASCAP but since she most likely recorded it while she was under HR we probably won't ever hear it
as for hits, when Vanessa has decent singles sent to radio and tv promo she does fine
Come Back to Me (her only song with actual promo that was sent to radio) peaked at #18 on radio (I think the final update was #20 though). Say OK would have done well with some TV appearances behind it. It peaked somewhere in the 50's but the music video is actually #10 on the top music videos on YouTube and #16 on the overall list...plus its her best sounding song vocally. I'm sure it would have done as well with at least 1 or 2 TV performances behind it and a few radio interviews. Plus the 4 Dr. Luke songs she had on Identified that would have done well with promo.

Hilary hasn't even attempted to have a successful music career since "Dignity." The "Best Of" was only to finish her contract with HR. Since January of this year, she's said she's putting her focus on her acting career (& Mike's ****) & doing music later. Very different circumstances.
