Because for every other country in the world (apart from Russia), this region is an integral part of the Republic of Georgia.

Well he's from there so I thought I might as well ask him directly, also I did Google but it was confusing because apparently some people classify it as a country/separate region and others don't.
Me. I live in an unnamed island off Australia's east coast. A great struggle, there isn't much here but the ruins of a failed society. The only way to get to the mainland is through boats/rafts, across the dangerous Great Barrier Reef.
The fact most third world countries are in Africa/Middle East
Also, Abkhazia is not a country, it's a republic that is part of the country Georgia... a local group of (what are internationally considered) terrorists claim it's an independent country
