A little birdy had a listen to 5 new TLC tracks from the upcoming album and had an inside scoop into what’s been going down with the project. Lets get to it, shall we?
The production team features the best of the best, a list that will undoubtedly grow with time. Producers who have recorded with TLC thus far include Dallas Austin (TLC “Unpretty”), Rock City (Rock City “I’m That”), Metro Boomin (Nicki Minaj “Want Some More”), Kandi (TLC “No Scrubs”) Raphael Saadiq (Raphael Saadiq “Ask Of You”), and Kayo (T-Boz “Champion”) Additional writers on the project include Kaleena (Kaleena “Love Come Down”), and T-Boz (TLC “Unpretty”).
The TLC sound is ever-present with an updated twist where T-Boz decides to show her true range and sing us a slow jam full of runs and notes we’ve yet to hear on albums past. The girls have re-recorded the Dallas Austin track “Honey,” which was originally recorded for the CrazySexyCool album but was later cut. In another track you get to hear Chilli rapping/chanting a verse, bringing not only her “sexy” game but also a bit of her “cool” (and we all know our girls are ALWAYS “crazy!”)
“My mom likes this song I did with Dallas, too, y’all never heard it. I did it way back in the CrazySexyCool days. It’s like a classic Prince song and it’s called ‘Oh Honey.’ ‘Oh Honey’ is the name of it, OK?” T-Boz (2012)
In addition to re-recording the slow jam “Honey,” the girls have also laid down vocals to a banger called….well……”BANG,” which is reminiscent of the pop/rock fusion Pink and Linda Perry made famous.
