Review of Coeur de pirate's concert at Ancienne Belgique, Brussels, Belgium. November 8, 2015. Roses Tour European Leg
Coeur de pirate dominated effortlessly the stage this Sunday. She opened with the epic Oceans Brawl and continued to perform songs from Roses. The visual effects were charming, but moderate which worked well. Her dancing is not professional but she is not a Lorde-MO kind of mess, in fact her dancing fits the music quite well. She also interacts with the audience quite a lot and is very charismatic. 'Today it's a special night,' she said, 'a new episode of The Walking Dead premiers tomorrow.' The Belgian audience is very respectful and shows lots of love to her. However, they don't sing and dance as much--perhaps the new English songs have something to do with it, but I could also hear myself singing even during Comme des enfants, but that's not her fault. I and the gay next to me (who said Ouiiii like the Gaga gays say yass

) were really enjoying the show. The rock band she brought is very different from the chanson française of her debut but surprisingly fitted the songs old and new quite well. Adieu and Ensemble were the highlights of the show, she showed her charisma and visually it was just the best part. She talked about how The Way Back Home is dedicated to her little daughter Romy and how Saint-Laurent is about being alone at a bar thinking about life. Her piano solo in C'était salement romantique earned her the accolades of the audience too. Perhaps my only complain is that she sang Francis rather quickly, but I am glad it got included in the set. It was also a disappointment to find out many people really just came for Comme des enfants, as it was the only song where everybody sang (and not loud enough for me!). She seems to be okay with it being her defining hit and even jokes about it, "this song is the reason why most of you are here tonight."
Oublie-moi and Comme des enfants not being the best part of the show was surprising. Adieu and Ensemble were simply fantastic with a rock band, I would've never thought. She closed with a nice rendition of Drake's Hold On We're Going Home, and like I said she couldn't be more humble. We may have made eye contact at some point in the concert.
My phone has the crappiest camera ever and this picture is all I got, along with two very blurry shots of her face. I'd rather save the memories with me forever....this may seem weird but this is like a life experience for me. A person I spent countless hours seeing on a screen and I got to see her live in the flesh, just 50 meters away from me
