No. Easter is celebrated on or near a pagan celebration but that doesn't mean it comes from pagan sources. You would be hard pressed to find any day that was not a pagan celebration at one time. Passover starts on a day known as Nisan 14 which is the first full moon of spring in Jewish calendar. Easter is the Sunday that follows. The dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Jewish people used to identify Passover. It has nothing to do with paganism.

I'm athiest and I do...and so does everyone else...none of my mums side is a creepy god believer or my boyfriends family and i'm pretty sure they all celebrate xmas... I don't see it as gods f---king birthday I see it as a family gathering and GIFTS and santa claus...none of this jesus bullcrap when I have kids i'll make sure that jesus is not even mention on xmas.

The truth be told, anyone can celebrate Christmas. Like people are saying, it's becoming less and less about the birth of Jesus, regrettably. But if you're someone who is trying to eradicate any trace of religion from this holiday, you're an idiot. It was originally a Christian holiday that has taken on new meaning for non-Christians through consumerism. There is nothing more irritating thsn when people are offended by being told "Merry Christmas" and want to change the saying to "Happy Holidays." And now, people are even trying to use "Xmas" more. I understand that you're not religious and can celebrate too, but don't be ignorant to the fact that it started as a religious celebration and for millions of people still remains as one.

Also, this same argument applies to Good Friday and Easter. Both are religious holidays still. Easter, however, has been affected by consumerism like Christmas.

It has become a celebration of consumerism but it is still a Christian holiday. But of course, everyone should be allowed to do so. But you guys are more than ignorant with your posts. Disrespectful and disgusting. Of course Christmas still has a vast meaning for christians. I've been wondering this for a while. There is a spectrum of atheists and those who are radical probably shouldn't in order to conform with their views.

you can't really say that Christmas isn't still a religious holiday, because at the end of the day everyone knows about the religious context behind Christmas. whether they choose to acknowledge it is different and depends on them.

anyway, everyday is Christmas for a Christian, since i'm sure most celebrate and are grateful for the birth of our Lord and Saviour everyday.
