Yes because the U.S. economy is supported by consumer spending. If all these atheists stop celebrating Christmas (ex: stop spending money on gifts, decorations, food, etc.) the GDP would be affected. It's literally just a marketing strategy.

Most things people do for Christmas have nothing to do with Jesus or Christianity which is why most people don't talk about Jesus on Christmas and most holiday movies and songs don't even mention him. Santa Claus completely overshadows Jesus on his own birthday. Not to mention that there's no biblical or historical evidence that Jesus' birthday was even on December 25th

Why ever not? Whether or not Jesus existed, Christmas was not his official birthday (sources will actually tell you his believed birthday is somewhere in October).

Christmas is a holiday that was taken from winter festivals and reclaimed for Christianity. At this time, it's become something far more than just Jesus's birthday - it's become a time during the year where people come together and celebrate their families and reflect on the year that has passed. Yes, shades of Christianity are to be found - in a more prominent fashion than that of the pagan religions that celebrated it before - but it's not a wholly Christian holiday.

Plus I don't think any true Christian would deny atheists the chance to celebrate a Christian holiday.

Christmas per se should be renamed as something religion-neutral cause like 99% of the people who celebrate it these days fail to even relate it to Christianity.

Yes, it originally had a Christian meaning but now it has evolved to something different and there's nothing wrong with that. Just like many pagan traditions that people celebrate now, it doesn't mean they have to believe in the ancient religions to do it.

If Christmas was exclusively a Christian religious celebration, then no, but we all know that isn't the case.

It's kind of messy, but it always has been. Consumerism has absorbed Christmas in similar fashion to how Christians absorbed pagan winter solstice festivals (e.g. Yule).

The things I like about "Christmas" aren't exclusively Christian.

Snow, snowmen etc. - Not Christian.
Santa - A melting pot of Christian and pagan figures. Coca Cola popularising his iconic look.
Reindeer - Thought to be adapted from Odin and Germanic folklore (i.e. pagan).
Decorated trees - Pagan origins, Victorian resurgence - Not biblical.
Songs - Some nice Christian carols, a lot of secular holiday songs.
Family - Not Christian.
Presents - Pagan.
Fancy dinner - Not Christian.
Films - Secular.
etc.

Really, the birth of Jesus and what not is irrelevant to me unless it's in a catchy Christmas carol and/or I'm dragged to Church.

The only thing is with Christmas, it's never boring, I know there's always the same feeling of dread i.e. when you have to do Christmas shopping, putting up and decorating the tree which is fun, I'm glad Christmas exists, everyone gets really festive during the holiday season, I love Starbucks and their festive drinks, I got the Gingerbread Latte today and thank God I'm a Starbucks My Rewards member, I know that not everyone enjoys Christmas whether because of personal or financial reasons and I'm not looking forward to buying presents this year as I haven't really got money to be able to do so.
