Mess at this comment when Natalia Kills is a girl singing basic pop music.

The songwriting in that song is so effortless asdfghjkl;
The way you move is like a full on rainstorm and I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless thay should send me running but I kinda know that I won't get far

Which albums were in this? I probably looked at it and didn't want to have to listen to a new album

Natalia was up against V V Brown, Kyla La Grange, Janelle Monáe, and Santigold. She was kind of dragged mercilessly.

SURPRISE! Lemme drop my comments on you here quick. No hype because it'd be less worth it than Focus, but w/e.
BATCH ONE
Quote:
01. Girlicious – The New Classic, Iggy Azalea
Does it fit the album: I'd only heard a few songs from her, but all of them (Iggy SZN included) had catchy hooks...you did a relatively good job at that. I think you may have went a bit harder than Iggy would've gone, though! No tea no shade!
02. conatus – Yours Truly, Ariana Grande
Does it fit the album: I can see this being a bubbly mid-to-uptempo song, with it being a bix of The Way and Baby I in a way. With both of those being Yours Truly songs...I would say yes it does fit well on the album.
03. inuborg – Riot!, Paramore
Does it fit the album: I can feel the angst oozing out of my computer screen - perfect!
04. jpow – Prism, Katy Perry
Does it fit the album: There aren't very many chiches!...well not really any, actually. I expected to see some for Prism.
05. Nait Phoenix – Unapologetic, Rihanna
Does it fit the album: I got TTT from this more than Unapologetic. Some people say that UA is just an extension of TTT, but UA was well...more unapologetic, not as vulnerable. Even her vulnerable moments can be passed off as songs to smoke weed too, so...I felt like this was too emotive for UA.
06. Jaxswim – Beauty Behind the Madness, The Weeknd
Does it fit the album: Something I noticed about The Weeknd is that he DOES have dark moments, but they're always underlying in double meanings, metaphors, etc. In that sense, I feel it was a bit too evident what you were saying. I did not really get a BBTM vibe from this song.
07. Kunst – Badlands, Halsey
Does it fit the album: I'll take your word for it that it does. I've only heard New Americana.
08. ausdaniel – 1000 Forms of Fear, Sia
Does it fit the album: Admittedly, I've only heard singles from 1000 Forms of Fear, but it seems to be Sia would not be so blunt about what the tone of the song is - taking Chandelier as an example, the song is sadder than appears on the surface; I don't really get that from this song.
09. Dylobs – In The Zone, Britney Spears
General: THAT PICTURE OF NICKI MINAJ YOU BITCH
Does it fit the album: Well, Britney was always marketed as a sexual person, so yeah I guess it does fit.
10. JakeKills – 1989, Taylor Swift
Does it fit the album: Lucky for you, I did actually listen to 1989 in full! The legitimacy of how I did it is a different story, but... The chorus was very 1989: Catchy, almost mindless pop in all its glory! You presented your topic in a fun way, much like a lot of 1989 was. I'd say you did a pretty good job on that front!
11. EuphorianSea – Blackout, Britney Spears
Does it fit the album: This was the first entry I read that I could fully hear it in the artist's voice and was just like YES. It's really important for a Britney song to be very catchy and sensual, especially for the album you chose, and I think you did that! I can already here the dark-sounding pop beat as I read it - which is great for you!
12. ceremonials – Ceremonials, Florence and the Machine
Does it fit the album: I have not listened to Ceremonials (nobody would tell me if I was wrong in my assumption that she doesn't have any songs like Breath of Life anywhere in her discography, so I assumed I was right.), but I've seen some of the lyrics you guys post in the thread...based on the limited knowledge I have, I do think you did well!
13. Vulnicura – In Colour, Jamie xx
Does it fit the album: Since I do not know a majority of these albums, I am grateful you explained yourself for this challenge. After reading that, along with your entry, I got a better understanding of what you were going for, and I think you did a great job on that front.
14. Obsession – True Romance, Charli XCX
Does it fit the album: It doesn't sound like her singles at all, but I did read your explanation...you were trying to put something in there that would add to it, not rewrite something that was already there. I like that you took that approach.
15. Nightingale – Emancipation, Mariah Carey
Does it fit the album: I can't imagine Mariah being this dark, going so far as to say something like "suicidal wishes". This was my biggest qualm with the song, because it was otherwise fine for the challenge.

BATCH TWO
Quote:
16. 8thPrince – News of the World, Queen
Does it fit the album: I've admittedly not listened to News of the World, so I appreciated the blurb you put. Judging from what you wrote, you did fit the challenge well!
17. Buyonce1814 – Unorthodox Jukebox, Bruno Mars
Does it fit the album: I do think your essay on how Bruno Mars dominated the music industry with his runaway smash album "Unorthodox Jukebox" emulated his style to a sufficient amount!
18. BlueM – Loud, Rihanna
Does it fit the album: This was definitely more UA or TTT, as GS said. An obvious approach that I thought surely would be done was listening to loud music and having a good time. It'd better capture the essence of that album without actually rewriting an existing song on the album (with this being very akin to S&M).
19. MattyTacos – Daydream, Mariah Carey
Does it fit the album: I've not heard Daydream, but I mean only die-hard stans would be able to tell the difference between her 57 albums anyway, right? I could definitely see Mariah on this, given what little I know of Mariah's discography.
20. swiftie13 – Confessions on a Dance Floor, Madonna
Does it fit the album: I hadn't listened to the album, but it felt VERY Madonna to me anyway. You took this song in a direction that I hadn't ever thought of, so I applaud you for that!
21. Jack! – I Am…, Beyoncé
Does it fit the album: Oh haha another album I never listened to. I think you could've done something more with how open-ended "I am..." is, but it wasn't bad or anything.
22. Tymps. – Frank, Amy Winehouse
Does it fit the album: Amy has such an "old soul" presence in her music - it's evident in her voice and lyrics. You captured the essence of that perfectly, and you told such a captivating story with it! I absolutely love some of the lines, "I'd buy you a drink, but I think my card's declined" is actually one of my favorites, because it actually says more than just a card being declined to me. To me, it's a symbol of her hitting some hard times, and she may be in the bar to try to take her mind off things. Maybe this guy serves as a beautiful distraction or escape in some way, and that idea really captivates me. If you couldn't tell already, I absolutely adore your entry!
23. keshaspearsxo – Plus, Ed Sheeran
General: I like how you didn't bluntly say your title <3
Does it fit the album: I'll trust your ability to write to this album!
24. Element – Night Visions, Imagine Dragons
Does it fit the album: I've only heard singles from them, but I think you captured their lyrical style to a fair degree!
25. ClarksonSlays – Brand New Eyes, Paramore
Does it fit the album: This actually felt like the anti-"Only Exception" in a way, which I liked! I think you did well on that front.
26. Urban_Fan – Fortune, Chris Brown
General: Love how you chose a Chris album even though he is a...polarizing...person in pop culture! Very brave!
Does it fit the album: The nods to "Fame" and the actual title of the album, in my opinion, were great touches! Most people know Fortune for his dance music he made, but he does have his more vulnerable moments. I also think it was a good decision for you to take that route, because there isn't much you could do as far as upbeat dance songs that wasn't already done on Fortune.
27. TheCheetahwings – Multiply, Ed Sheeran
Does it fit the album: I've not heard Multiply, but I could see Ed on it, so gud job.
28. HausofNiko – Pure Heroine, Lorde
Does it fit the album: I'm not going to drag you or anything (You'll have got that enough), but no it doesn't.
29. Moonchild – Living Proof, Cher
Does it fit the album: I can imagine Cher on the chorus, definitely!
30. Kworb – Dead Petz, Miley Cyrus
Does it fit the album: I, admittedly, couldn't get through the whole album. You definitely captured the idea of missing dead pets, though, and I am going to be *safe* and assume that was a theme in the album!
