In theory, once you're in a relationship with someone you shouldn't need to take a "next step" to validate it, it's more about security.

Legally, no (and that's the only reason I'd ever get married). In any other aspect, yes. I really just do not understand how it's supposed to make your relationship stronger, just because someone walks down the aisle with you that doesn't mean they're not gonna cheat on you or leave you. It's quite naive to think that.
