It looks like he's pinning it on Catherine. She had blood splattered on her night gown, and it happened in her house. The fact that he left her alive and in the open to be found is proof of that.

Oliver is super disposable and has been used as a plot-shortcut for WAY too many episodes, like, he has gotten clues by hacking for almost half the episodes, its lazy at this point.
Him dying free's up Connor and gives him more arc.
Wes is WAY too invested in the plot to die, unfortunately.
