Sometimes but it depends on what/how much stuff I have.
Plus the majority of the time, I'm the one bagging my own **** anyway instead of them so I might as well scan the **** too
All the time, everywhere if I'm buying a small amount of shopping on my own. .
I once used self checkout with my mum in Asda to pay for a full weekly shop (the larger self checkouts for larger purchases not the item limited ones.) and it was the pits. The amount of times I heard the computer bitch say "Please wait for assistance" because the damn weighing area was to small to keep count of the all the bags . Just don't do it if you're buying lots of things, it's not worth it.
I do and sometimes it's just so much easier/better. I say sometimes because there seems to often be someone that's hogging a checkout and has NO idea how to use it, has unexpected items and is just flustering. It's annoying when that happens. But for the most part I find it more convenient than a normal check out if I only have a few items. I do think a staff checkout is faster because you don't have to place each item separately and wait for it to recognise you've placed it.
It's been a little but of a nuisance with the bag charge but I guess it's teething problems.
