Apple to sponsor Adele's tour $30M; to sell album in stores
Quote:
The singer’s powerhouse negotiators at WME are so confident of the success of her upcoming album and as-yet-unconfirmed world tour that they’ve pitched Apple on a jaw-dropping $30 million tour sponsorship, The Post has learned.
That’s as much as 10 times the usual sponsorship deal.
Team Adele is also pushing Apple to carry the CD in its retail stores when it drops Nov. 20, sources said.
Despite the early success and expected bonanza awaiting Adele, not everyone’s happy with the hard-ball negotiating tactics.
“Her team needs to be more realistic about an artist who doesn’t have much of a history of working with corporate partners,” one person familiar with the talks said.
Marketers also worry about the burn-out factor of her first-ever arena tour and so many dates.
Team Adele is still in discussions with tour operators Live Nation and AEG — although the European piece of a global tour could be announced shortly.
I really can't imagine her going on a massive tour. She prefers smaller venues first of all, so the tour wouldn't be that lucrative I imagine (though tickets would be extraordinarily priced and production costs would probably be low). Also, I'm not sure how much vocal stamina she has since her surgery a few years back. What's more, she's got a little boy to take care of and has generally not enjoyed touring extensively in the past. It'll be interesting to see how this shapes up.
Why are people saying that she will be overexposed?
All Apple will do is sponsor her tour and sell her album at their store. Hardly overexposure. Yall scared.
