European / American acts are popular in Asia, Asian acts aren't popular in Europe / America. There you go. Why have someone on stage of a mainstream award show no one in the audience knows?

This makes sense that they would do that because it's not a big category and she is not known in Europe to most ppl however it was rude of them to tell her last minute. they should of made it clear from the get go.

They had an artist fly out to a country that lacks any superstars of their nationality/ethnicity, told her two hours before the event that she'd have to take the award backstage (despite her male counterparts getting them on-stage for the past three years), lied to her and said that it was because "none of the other recipients showed up" and when she told them she was unhappy, they told her it was good enough for Justin Bieber in a belittling manner.

To promote the artist. That's why these awards shows exist and have so many performers

And this is why international artists should pay these things dust. They only include them to create an illusion of status and to get fans to give them website hits and attention.

And is called "Best Asian Act" when it only includes East Asian countries?

the truth of it all is that it is still a recognition of a-sort-of musical excellence but that will not garner views, sadly.
the only option is to extend the show and that would be disgustingly expensive to do.
