That's stupid! I didn't buy a lot of music before (an album per year or so) and I used to download everything illegally. Now for a couple of months I pay Spotify Premium (which is 10€ per month), so I spent around 120€ in music per year. WAYY more than before.
Oh, I'm sure she's really bitter for being in all the lists for most influential people in the world
She got the support from people in the industry, the people who are affected, that's all that matters to her.
Streaming is definitely reducing piracy. I still buy my music (physically and digitally) but I definitely appreciate what paid streaming services are doing to revitalize the industry.
Example:
If one of Taylor's songs is streamed 300 million times, she could make anywhere from $1.8M to $2.5M for making one damn song (of course split a few times between other contributors), that is NOTHING to be bitching about. Especially when she has several popular songs
Question: How much terrestrial radio stations pay TS (as a recording artist) and her label per spin? Answer: 0.0$ per spin
Taylor, why don't you remove your music from radio stations?
That's what happens when you don't research. Big Machine has a very, very lucrative deal regarding terrestrial radio, they actually get a lot of money from it
I've been wondering how does Spotify earn all this money. It seems impossible to get all of it just from subscribtions which are a mere $8/month and occasional ads.
I just wrote a paper on Spotify's impact on the music industry. I did a LOT of research, and while I understand some of Taylor's reasons, I still think that Spotify and music streaming services are in fact helping the industry to move forward.
Slay mama. Taylor is just greedy and this really will come back to hurt her.
