He's definitely been in a rut for a while now, and the timing of the beginning of that rut definitely does seem to coincide with when Kesha made those allegations. At least part of that has to do with the fact that he and former mentor and, more recently right hand man, Max Martin have at least for the moment parted ways (infer from that what you will). But it also appears artists have just become wary of working with him: his production catalog from 2014 on has been quite short and much less star-studded, and weirdly more urban oriented, which is admittedly a strange lateral move.
It's hard to say what exactly spurred this, whether artists might think it might cause negative press to work with an accused rapist or whether artists are genuinely afraid of him, but there's no denying there's a very real trend here, one that starts with Kesha's accusations.
I think Katy is still working with him (they did a Xmas song together) so it's possible he'll continue to score some hits through her. But yeah, Luke definitely isn't what he was a few years ago. His taste has always been somewhat generic and it shows in his music. Max & his Swedes have pretty much dethroned him.
Incorrect, Dr. Luke was not involved in the Christmas song.
It's also pretty interesting that Max and Luke haven't worked together since 2013.
Within the industry I/we cannot tell what kind of impact Keshas lawsuit has caused. If theres a ripple effect, we cant tell from the outside just yet. But to be honest, at this moment in time id say no. Im sure Katy will still continue working with him. Whenever she puts out an album, there he will be once again.
This lawsuit is the kind of thing that im sure is causing some sectors of "the industry" (ill call it) to do damage control and act like nothings wrong. We wont ever really know the truth until years and years and years later when shes on some where are they now thing or people look back in retrospect at the situation and theyll divulge everything that was going down behind the scenes probably at this very minute. If they're going to try and save anyones ass its Lukes, not Keshas. So to everyone in here acting like no ones talking about this lawsuit outside of ATRL, honestly thats how they want it. Its not like its coincidental that its not getting major press. I mean yes of course Kesha is like C list celebrity status but still, its a history making lawsuit. One that affects many people, not just Luke. Sponsorships, executives, the record label, etc. Its not burning up your feeds for a reason larger than just Kesha being "irrelevant" by pop stan standards.
