Nobody didn't say Frank's popularity didn't skyrocketed with the letter but their plenty of people who were definitely were a FAN of his EP and were ready for his debut album. I honestly believe him coming out actually hurt him instead of helping him when it came to his album sales alone.

But I truly believe he got recognition because of how great his album is. If Frank Ocean had came out and then put out a very bad album and the critics ****** on that album, do you really think he will still get the same nods that he gotten from Channel Orange?

Maybe it's an advantage in some part of the music industry, but he's absolutely downplaying the discrimination and harassment that people are still facing because of their sexuality.
