communism at its most basic definition is a way of dividing up economic resources equally so as to remove the economic class systems of capitalism.

the problem with communism is that it practically gives all economic power to the government, hence why so many communist regimes simply become totalitarian ones.

One of them is actually an integral component of the other. Communist states are also fascist even though they don't acknowledge it nominally. I'd say communism is twice as evil as fascism. But they aren't really much different from each other. They're both totalitarian rulerships based on marxist principles.
