A ton of Maroon 5's stuff isn't generic, I'd say most of their discography. Same with Kelly, Breakaway and My December aren't, and there are plenty of songs on All I Ever Wanted, Stronger and Piece By Piece that aren't either IMO.

Also, you've got Bruno, Beyonce, and Whitney in your sig. I love and admire them all, but I'm really, really not getting how you're calling the entire discographies of some of those artists generic, but not those 3 artists. (XO, If I Were A Boy, Pretty Hurts, Best Thing I Never Had, The Lazy Song, Just the Way You Are, just to name some. And I love all of those songs and don't think they're that generic, but I think songs like Clean, Treacherous and All Too Well are even farther from generic).

Anyway the answer is simple. Beyonce, Bruno, and Whitney all have soul imo and the majority of the music they make isn't Pop anyway, it's R&B. Almost everyone in my sig, save for Pac, is majorly R&B, not Pop.
