He doesn't exactly say they'll be the same but you can assume they will be by the way he compares it to AHS how we'll never see those sets, characters again.

I mean he says "the survivors" come back and fight a new villain. If they're new characters then they aren't really survivors. He probably would've explicitly stated they'd if they would be new characters.

And why are we talking about characters might having new roles next season?

Didn't they say it clear, this is not AHS where it would reset? I don't see why they would lie about that. What's the point of surprising everyone who will stay alive for next season if they'll have brand new roles anyway! Pretty sure the survivors will continue and go on for the continuation ala Sidney, Gale, Dewey etc. Since it's paying homage to classic horror films, and this is a series, I am pretty sure they will use that normal horror series formula.

I hope every season is completely different to the previous one. I want it to be something new, Ryan doesn't really confirm that they are going to be the same characters and if someone is going to ask about "why he doesn't add the whole cast again?" well, he might want to try other actors/actresses as well and just keep his favorites.
