I know it seems random but I saw an article about the Cruise Ship Tycoon game (that I love) but it made me wonder what's the appeal of going on one IRL? I've been on a boat before and I'm a good swimmer, but after Titanic I would never subject myself to go on a cruise even if it were free.

I'm sure there's some statistic that proves it's safer to be on a cruise than driving a car etc. but I wouldn't be able to get over the fear(?) of actually being trapped on a boat at sea.

Does anyone here actually find cruises appealing? Have you guys been on a cruise before?

I'd rather spend my money going to a resort or flying to a different country than going on a cruise.

They're relaxing, you don't have to worry about anything, and my favorite part is the 24 hour buffet

I've never had a bad experience. You should really try it. Accidents like the Titanic are very rare, just like with plane accidents.

That's true, but would you prefer to be on a ship for "X" amount of time stranded over sea than at a resort? I don't get why someone would choose a cruise over flying/driving to somewhere else. Like.. you're stuck on a boat

There are a lot of activities to do. Comedy shows, spas, outdoor sports, etc. It's not like you're just sitting there in an empty room.

A cruise is obviously enjoyable if time isn't a concern. Leisurely travel while drinking, watching shows, stopping off at beautiful port cities, scenic etc. I'd love to go on a cruise! There's some great ones around Japan I'd love to do.

Yeah, this is one of those things that I'd understand not liking cruises for.

They stop at ports and you can get off for hours and shop around the cities out of the country Plus there's so many activities going on. We're going to a cruise in April.

I went on a cruise a couple of years ago and it was my best holiday ever. It's like a floating holiday resort with the added value of being able to see a whole bunch of different countries in just a couple of weeks.

I know but you can do all of that at an actual resort.. why do it on a boat? I think it must be a phobia I just discovered because I don't see the appeal of going on one.

I'm fine with planes because I've been on them since I was a kid, but I can't see myself ever wanting to go on a cruise other than to try something new I guess. But you guys seem to like it so lemme put this on my bucket list to try.

Basically. I just feel like with my luck something would go wrong and I'd think, "Why did I even decide to go on a cruise?" It seems unnecessarily risky.
