What artist from her generation, besides MJ, is more appreciated? And really, the perception of MJ changed drastically after his death. You can bring up the ticket sales for what would have been his final tour all you want, but MJ was a public JOKE the last 10+ years plus of his life and to pretend otherwise is to be in extreme denial.
Who cares what the streaming numbers are for her 30 year old songs. Those songs are classics and made way more impact in their day than the songs today that get 600mill views on YT.
I dont even care what young kids today like they have fickle taste and no attention span. They can stay posting "mom" "dad" "slay" "queen" & such on social media. Theres no hope for them.
He was very much disrespected before his death but the important thing is is talent wasn't. People might have called him "wacko jacko" and a pedophile but most never touched his talent. Meanwhile Madonna js seen as almost the eptime of mediocrity in pop music, an untalented hussy that sold shock value and controversy and got lucky, and the reason many female popstars after her are also so medicore and oversexualized too.
Also he was virtually absent from the public eye from the 2005 trial until his announcement of the This Is It tour in 2009, which probably helped while Madonna just keeps constantly doing things to taint her legacy with desperate antics.

She's an oversexualized 50 year old. It throws people off.
His pedophilia rumors were THE punchline before he died and everyone went "We LOVE HIM <3"

Madonna just lacks that major hit this decade to get her Spotify views going and popularize her page. It doesn't help that the majority of Spotify users are 12 and there's no point for her to focus on appealing to those small children when her album sales and older fanbase are far more profitable.
Did you miss Scary Movie 3 or South Park? How about that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory parody dedicated to his molestation accusations (set to "The Way You Make Me Feel)." No popstar is respected while they're alive and it's up to their label/the people they leave behind to spin their legacy into something greater (see: Priscilla Presley).
Everyone I know didn't believe it and loved the King of Pop!
loads of people still know like a virgin, families own her greatest hits and her songs still get loads of recurrent airplay. If you listen to Heart Radio in the UK you'll hear at least 5 Madonna songs in a day. I'm 18, born 97 and the two biggest popstars of my childhood were Britney and Madonna. She's doing better than her 80s peers, Janet and far better than Mariah who's like 10 years younger. There is no female artist with more classics than Madonna.

She is. I've rarely ever heard anyone talk badly of her from this generation unless they were a monster and were
doing it out of spite after the whole BTW/EY thing

The same reason people of the younger generations don't appreciate David Bowie, Queen, Cyndi etc. and other huge pop acts before their time. it's ironic and im not throwing shade but it's her age, shes not the "in thing" anymore.
To be honest her stuff lately has been a scream of attention for one last fight to fit in with the youth. I honestly would respect her more if she just acted her age and made music to appeal for the fanbase that grew with her like a lot of older artist do.
I expect that with any artist so im not throwing shade.
In reality those are really the only fans that 'buy' her music and the rest buy solely based off her name as a brand same thing with touring. Older gays and girls go and see her for her music and the younger youth see her because of her name and what she is.
SHE IS THE QUEEN nontheless. So she will forever be present.
