And the real world argument doesn't really apply when that is only true in the US.

Yeah, but even if Katy B was bigger than Katy Perry, you'd still have the same reactions because of how long Katy Perry was more famous. And Jenner might be bigger right now, but overall career legacy can't be thrown out just because someone blows up for a little bit.
