I have to say, not even to diss Demi, but Confident is terrible. It's a tremendously lazy pop album. At least Selena and her team tried to sound fresh. Demi is like, haphazardly combining 2-3 year old pop songs with 4-5 year old pop songs and calling it a day.

The article doesn't necessarily imply that Selena hasn't struggled, but the media has overlooked her struggles and portrayed her in a positive light in comparison to Demi. Your average Demi thread on ATRL will show you that--she is seen as a person to be mocked for her looks and personal history (criticized for speaking about it) while the other is admired for her looks and social life, I mean

Confident is so generic, it's not distinctive at all. And it shows no growth, vocally it's a gem but content wise, no.

I agree with this.
Revival sounds so different, something that I really don't expect from Selena. But it's good that she's trying to do her best to make something 'personal' but it came off as try hard. It seems like her growth but my problem is that it's unrecognizable, not many people can tell if it's selena's or not.
Confident is exactly how I expected from Demi. Mature, exciting or emotioning. You can tell Demi put her 100% in that album that it doesn't come off as 'try hard', The reason why I think this album suits demi because she's known for her powerhouse vocalist and you can hear 1 or 2 in that album.
If you try to come in and say 'she's just screaming', then I have nothing further to discuss with you.

In what universe is Revival an artistic album? It's the most basic album where you can put all ideas into one. Gospel, rnb, pop, ballad. A Gaga BTW teas.

Lovato’s Confident, though, is for times you need to fight. Accordingly, it’s as bombastic a pop album we’re likely to get until Lady Gaga makes her true return. With digitized horns and jock-jam drums, she charges out on the opener/title track much like Shania Twain on “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” and then goes near a capella in the chorus to taunt, “What’s wrong with being confident?” The surging lesbian tease of “Cool for the Summer” comes next, followed by “Old Ways,” which pairs trap-rap swagger with a big pep talk of a chorus. The template—aggression, hunger, sweating for self-determination—is set. By track four, Lovato settles in pining-balladeer mode, where she stays for much of the rest of the album: shout-singing and lurching octaves as the production mimics battering rams and ’80s-metal slow dances. Sometimes all this noise and straining is moving; often, it’s tiresome; at all times and unlike Gomez, as people in the age bracket of her fanbase might say, Lovato has no chill.
Sit with it for a while, and Lovato’s album starts to feel like the more distinctive one, the result of an excellent vocalist with an on-record personality that feels more human, more vulnerable, than any of her peers. You could see all of this on display on SNL this past weekend, where Lovato sang one of her new ballads, “Stone Cold.” When she cried and her voice cracked, it felt less like she was making mistakes and more like she was showing evidence of a talent that can’t be manufactured—the soul in the machine of post-Disney stardom.

Revival (song) tells a bit about what she has been trought yet, Survivors, Rise and Kill Em With Kindness are gems about living your life instead of others and at the same time it talks about what she has been through.

She literally has 2 artistic songs on it...We've heard the rest from her on the previous albums...And sorry but being naked on the cover and having 14 Tell Me Something I Don't Knows on the album doesn't make it artistic sorry not sorry...You either reinvent yourself and do it properly or you just don't...

They are both mediocre albums at best. Lets just call a spade a spade and let these bland irrelevant's fade away.
