What happened is that HWR doesn't reject 90% of her mature songs anymore because she's at Island Records now. Before, HWR was holding her back.
The previous album she claimed she found her sound, which would be "more mature". Then DEMI released and we all know how bubbly it was. I'm sure she was aiming more at the sound that this fifth album has instead, but HWR blocked it because it wasn't fit for Disney. We all know how Disney is.
