The woman next to her in the picture is the designer behind Brother Vellies, a footwear brand made by local artisans in Africa inspired by traditional African designs, not Native Americans. And the dress is Altuzarra and features beading inspired by the Kuna people of Panama, but I highly doubt those are the natives the OP is referring to. I see this much more as a reference to Africa, which would be appropriate in this context. I guess the braids are a bit on the nose, but I really don't see anything inflammatory about this picture.
