In the past months this has happened to me three times. I paid for something, gave the cashier money, and they gave me more money back than they were supposed to.

1. I went to pay for my X-Box 360. It was $299. I gave the lady $300 and she handed me back $10. I don't know if she noticed or not. I think she might have. She smiled at me funny while she handed me my change.

2. I bought some chips and soda. I gave the man $5. It cost $2.50, but I got $3.50 in change instead. Some people just don't know how to count.

However, this the funniest of them all:

3. I went to buy a present for my mother. It was $85 and I gave the woman $100 and she gave me $5 extra on purpose! She winked at me and told me not to tell.

If this does/did happen to you, would/did you point out the mistake to them? Or just run away with the extra cash?

I take the cash. If the people don't know their math, fire them.

once at american eagle, i was buying clothes. and the guy would take the taggs off and forget to scan, and he didnt scan any of the three shorts! i ddnt say anything...lol

I'm actually all about honesty. If someone hands me too much money I point it out. Think of this... if you were handing money to a cashier and gave them too much, would you want them to take that from you?

While one might argue that people should learn to count, that's not always the case. As a person with money handling experience, sometimes new bills are really crisp and stick together to where you can't always tell there's more than one bill. If you accidentally gave someone two $100 bills and they stuck together but the cashier knew, would you be happy if you later found out they had taken it for themselves?

Once, I left a store and didn't notice that they had given me less change than they should have. I went back and told them about. Luckily they were nice enough to give me my change back. However, this time they had given me $5 extra. Since they were nice enough to return my change, I did them the favor of returning theirs.

I often give them the money back but there have been times when I haven't.

Its depends on the cashier. If she's a little bitchy, the hell would I want to give it back.

this dont really happen to me, mostly cause i dont check the change they give me back. one time though i did get a $200 jacket from armani exchange free i guess the girl didnt scan it properly or didnt know what she was doing another time was at express i had a i think 10% off coupon from online i was looking at the receipt and it said 50 something percent off instead. of course i ask no question ;P

I was in some store.... The cashie rang up my stuff and just handed me about $57 and some change before i even handed him my hundred. I politely took it and walked off.
