I don't think that's the point of what Rupaul was saying.
The point is, there's some real and serious problems transgendered people face: getting jobs, societal acceptance, etc, that go beyond the little words people on Tumblr love to bash and scream about.
The civil rights movement wasn't built on black people saying "stop using the N word!"--it was built on people demanding equal treatment.
The gay rights movement didn't succeed because people said "stop calling me a ******!"--it succeeded because people found a right that was denied to them, and fought tooth and nail to get that right, and in the process won the hearts of the country too.
The people that actually
use the N word, the F word, the B word in an insulting way are never going to actually listen to you and will laugh at you when you cry about how much it hurts you.
The people that use the words in a joking context, as a way of expressing friendship, familiarity, etc, shouldn't be penalized/punished into censoring themselves simply because the people you actually want to target won't listen to you.
I'm so glad Rupaul spoke up.
