As you know, generally you pick a VP candidate to "balance out" your own faults (as ludicrous as that is.) The Democrats who constantly bring up gun control are losing voters. There's a fair bit of people who
would vote Democrat if not for what they view as an attack on their constitutional rights. Webb, in that regard, would be a good pick.
I doubt picking him would even turn off that many people who want to vote for her. Her voting base (the "casuals", people who love her anyway, and people who see her as the best chance for a Democrat in the White House) will vote for her regardless of the VP.
And, yeah, the Sarah Palin comparisons don't make much sense.
