Not the worst part about being black in Japan being that they're fascinated and want to touch their hair.

Even they say, compared to our Western countries, it's hardly a bad thing considering how bad it is in the west.

This is a complete lie. I am half black and I've been living in Japan for 4 months now. The racism in this country is extraordinary. My family (black) have all literally suffered racism from Japanese people especially their older population.

yeah!! it's awesome that black ppl feel less discriminated over there. in fact a lot of them said they felt special! which is awesome! feeling unique and loved is great!
Japan is so safe! like you'd never hear a person killing someone over race I think! Were as in the US you got ppl you should trust with your safety (police) killing innocent black ppl.

Trust me, it's worse for black people. I even get better treatment than most black people because I'm half American and they're fascinated by that. The older people though seem to be the extremely close minded ones.

ugh that is really frustrating. I honestly thought Japan would be the one perfect country without much racism. man....maybe in the future I guess. The old generation keep bringing society down on so many social levels tbh.

This guy black lawyer I interned for says he loves Japan and visits all the time. He says the Japanese love black people so if I ever got sick of America to go over there for an ego boost lol. Idk about other experiences maybe he's wrong. I'd love to go to Japan though, its like my #1 travel destination

When I lived in Japan last year I had this one friend who had an extremely dark completion, and she was really beautiful, tall and thin. We went to a big city and so many people just out rightly were saying "wow!" and "how beautiful!" (in Japanese obviously)

These two older woman stopped her and were fussing over her "little face", which apparently is something desirable in Japan? We cackled, but they paid my white face dust next to her black beauty (Lana promo).

But didn't the most recent Ms.Japan receive backlash for being half black?

Japanese people are fascinated by black culture definitely and many of them love black people. Unfortunately many of them are just as bad as white Americans as well so like...depends on where you go. I'm sorry Masahiro had to suffer that with his family . But many black people have a great time there

Did you even watch the documentary? It's the reverse. There's fewer cases of racism, than in western countries.

You're discriminated against regardless in western countries, whereas some black people in Japan don't experience it at all.

Positives > Negatives. Then again this is atrl so I won't bother celebrating the good results of this documentary and let y'all just scrutinise it regardless and find anyway possible to turn this into something bad. Don't watch it, close the thread or w/e.

I would rather people watch this and feel happy about it than read your one post and feel like ****, once again.

Waiting for the day a documentary like this is done in the west and every black person featured has a smile on their face.
