It was SO good

Only a 78 on Metacritic. Seems unlikely for a youth-centered film from an unproven distributor and a director not known for his films to break through big at the Oscars. Not even a biography of a real person.

Elba seems likely for a nom though as he's been rising up.

It's 89% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Most reviews are positive.

"Positive" isn't enough for the factors against it. Now if they were "glowing"...

I mean, heck, The Avengers is at 92% on RT. Oscars are about voting what you think is Great and Amazing - not just something that most people agree is more good than bad, which is what RT gauges for its %.

Lol no Oscars are about working the PR machine well enough that there will be a riot if you don't get an acknowledgement.

The movie is flawless.

Y'all need to watch it if you have good taste.
