This post was just about how Bonnie is trying to come off as a teenager and is failing,
which she is. This is not about how much $$$$ she has or who she wrote for, this is about
her failed singles push.
She is like 33 or something, she looks old ( this is not to bash her at all) but the GP for pop music wants someone like Ariana grande or a Selena that is younger. Singing tween songs and looking 35 years old is a bad look. Madonna tried and is laughed out of the bulidng (but shes Madonna she gets a pass because shes a legend )
This is true. Bonnie McKee looks old. McKee singing these rehashed Kesha songs doesn't mesh well visually. Carly Rae Jepsen is around 40, but she can still get away with singing lyrics like, "In your fantasy, dream of me..." in her bubbly pop voice because she still looks 22. I don't know much about Bonnie, but if I recall, she did drugs when she was younger, so that probably sped up the aging process. In any case, that bleached-bright hair color makes her look older. She needs shorter hair and a natural ombré honey/brunettte color to give her a more youthful appearance while she sings her pop songs.

This is not knocking her hit making capability, she has hits that she has made for other artists, but its the same formula and sounds 2010 ish, nothing new she has done. You just need to stick to song writing and stop trying to release EPS to get the attention of the public, the most you can get is maybe your song on an ad, or Playing The today show. No one really cares about your music that much.
I don't think Bonnie McKee should quit making music. She just needs to adjust her expectations. She's never going to be a mega popstar, but that doesn't mean she can't still put out good pop music for her fans, and for herself. She has a sweet voice. I don't know why she decided to release a screechy reductive song like "American Girl" when her voice is actually slick, youthful, and even a little hypnotic. Her demo for Britney Spears' "Gasoline" is better than the final released version.
Do you honestly think Bonnie is trying to be a mega popstar?
I'm pretty sure Bonnie herself knows how the industry works and being older affects your success... She's releasing music she wants to release independently. Pretty sure all she's worried about is her cheques coming through from all the hit song she writes.
