Looking back, it’s easy to see why the track took off the way it did. In the mid-00s, radio and music channels were oversaturated with angsty pop-rock songs that hammered out the same anti-establishment lyrics over cheap guitar riffs and emo visuals. It was a time when Green Day were the biggest music act on the planet.

LMAO, for some reason i started looking into threads about U2 and Rolling Stones tours from back in the day in another forum, and i just ended up reading the Hung Up release thread just before i read this thread
Going back in time....
I remember going to the shopping mall and listening to this song ALL THE TIME, didn't know who sang and I didn't really care because back then I was emo/punkish AND straight so I was like no Alan you cannot like it it's pop music! I couldn't resist tho , I wanted to know its name but I eventually forgot about it and 6 years later I was browsing a bodybuilding forum and this guy said, ohh this song was pretty big when I used to get high with my friends Being 21 and more open to music and not so straight anymore I played the video and it was Hung ****ing Up and I went back in time and remembered it was the highly popular song from the shopping mall I listened to it the whole weekend and officially became a Madonna fan the rest is history.
Everybody needs Madonna in their life, some stan early, and some come across later and stan for this Goddess of Music
I still have it on my iPhone, it never gets old. Literally the biggest hit of my entire life, my favorite pop song, my favorite Madonna song and everything

If the song was successful here in Colombia for sure also it had to be in the rest of Latin America.
