I was arrested in June here in the UK for underage drinking and being in an over 18 premises with false identification (among other things) The charges were dropped. Thank God this wasn't in America because I might have been shot, although I'm not black.
As said, it's obviously preferable, but it is a bigger risk on the cop's part too. I have a lot of issues with the U.S. cops, but taking out an armed attempted murderer is pretty low on the list
In the past FIVE years, SIX UK police officers have been killed whilst on duty.
Now contrast that data with the US equivalent:
Clearly, US police having firearms in their position does not reduce the risk to their lives. If anything, it escalates it.
