Tymps spilling tea.
Although Style's melody is infinitely more interesting and less monotonous than Are We Over The Chorus Yet?

Yes!
Romantics, Woods, Dreams, YAIL, and Wonderland / Clean / Shake / Style / Space / I Wish = the top 5.
The other 5 are the bottom 5.

Would it be poorly received if I wrote a Christmas song (Poor Mariah)?

No, but I'd hold on to that if I were you.

They have a great appreciation for music and they know good lyricism when they see it. He's one of the nicest and most recognisable faces around the forum, and so far the nicest judge on the panel in terms of scoring!
Please welcome the Bloomers of this season's panel...
Please give a warm welcome to Meowster, who will be this season's new judge. I thought Bloomers provided a really great new angle to judging last season given he wasn't a previous contestant or judge. In fact, Meowster knew nothing about the game before agreeing to sign on as judge, let alone read and ranked 53 entries before. For his first time I think he did an amazing job, and I have full confidence in his abilities.
Congratulations and welcome, Meowster!

OK please don't take this the wrong way, but bolded are the reasons I'm not incredibly happy about this. I think 4 judges is perfect and I was happy that the judges this season were all much more qualified than last season. I love Meowster and Bloomers is one of my favorite members on this site, but I don't think those types of vanity judges belong in a game like this (see: Ellen on American Idol). I think a judge of a game should be very familiar with the game at the very least, and some credentials like winning, hosting, judging, or being part of many seasons are important in my eyes. I think it was a bad sign that everyone could instantly tell it wasn't fefe based on the comments because there was a certain aura of uncertainty and awkward surrounding the judge's comments, although that may just be because he's so new to the game.
Not saying I think he should be taken off the panel, and maybe he'll prove himself to me in future rounds, I just might as well be honest instead of giving a fake congrats.

Haven't fallen down in a while
Sitting here walking the line
Well that's ok, I ain't no book
'Cause nobody's off the hook
See you looking so sad
Trying to live your life in style
Well that's ok, you ain't no crook
'Cause nobody's off the hook
I remember you when, looking like a teenager
How you have become a man with all the power
Running the moon aground
Who would ever have thought, hanging with a homo and hairdresser
You would become the one desired in every woman's heart
But you never will lose, your heart with those little boys
Haven't fallen down in a while, sitting here walking the line
Well that's ok, 'cause I have looked
And nobody's off the hook
'Cause life will take that little heart, and bring you to your knees
Threatening to break it for the final time
And you'll believe it, yes, you will believe it
But look, nobody's off the hook
This would lose Platinum Hit but this whole song is ****ing genius. Rufus Wainwright is king.
GotSkill now that you've jacked my music taste swag with Sufjan Stevens you shoul become a Rufus Wainwright fan! (Although he's probably too fem for you!!)

Currently listening to Florence's Ceremonials and the first two songs have been a 1-2 punch.

In other news, I'm glad to see the return of the Twitter Challenge! It was probably my favorite round I competed in in Season 5 and I made sure it include it in Season 6 as well. It's a great test of your abilities (and will make it easier on us judges )
For anyone needing some guidance, here's my #1 song in season 5 from the twitter challenge (that got a 9.3 btw)
One Last Lullaby
Whisper goodnight
Soft lips locked tight
A final countdown
Sunset on this ghost town
Light leaves your eyes
Steel grip subsides
As diamonds in the sky
Wave one last goodbye
Trembling, but I stay strong
Hold you while I can hold on
Lives forever intertwined
I’ll sing you one last lullaby
Every memory belongs to you
When you leave can you take me, too?
Savor every breath, too in love to cry
No goodbye, just one last lullaby
Trembling, but I stay strong
Hold you while I can hold on
Lives forever intertwined
I’ll sing you one last lullaby
Whisper goodnight
Sealed tight lifetime
As your soul departs
Just one beating heart
Here I’ll remain
Faithful, insane
Take one last look in your eyes
Kiss one last goodnight
And sing you one last lullaby
Sing you one last lullaby

Of course your opinion is welcome.
Platinum Hit is about growth. This extends beyond the contestants. I want the challenges to grow in terms of difficulty and skill requirement. I want to the gameplay to grow with new twists and turns along the way. And I want the judging panel to grow. lovesong and I haven't judged before either and we're still working things out. Meowster and I were on the nicer side this round, lovesong was the harshest critic. That's another reason why I think having a non-elimination round the first round was a good idea because everyone's still getting used to things, including the judges.
Meowster actually sent me a message after your and Huga's comments were posted expressing his concerns about his comments, which shows initiative and lets me know that he's going to do something different next time. That's all I can ask for.
As it stands 80% of the panel has PH experience and I think that's a good enough percentage. We shouldn't be afraid to include someone new, outside opinions are important. In the real world, not everyone who judges a song is a songwriter or a song critic, the GP are the biggest percentage when it comes to music, so having someone like Meowster on the panel makes everything more realistic.
Sorry for the essay, I can understand your concerns but I don't think you'll still have any by the end of the season.

And the arms of the ocean are carrying me
And all this devotion was rushing out of me
And the crashes are heaven, for a sinner like me
But the arms of the ocean delivered me

I can see your reasons too. I'm not trying to start something with anyone obviously so I'm not fighting . Just sharing my views as well. Obviously it's OK to have differing views. That does make me feel better that he wants to get better with his comments so I hope you're right
I expressed my concerns to a few people before the judge was revealed that I hoped it wouldn't be another Bloomers situation but I guess that's karma

Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues drawn
It's always darkest before the dawn
And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around
All of his questions, such a mournful sound
Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues drawn
But it's always darkest before the dawn
This bitch

I get what you're saying, but tbh at the same time, I think it's an interesting take to have an outsider's take.
We've all gotten used to each other's styles and we know the technicalities behind songwriting. But a hit needs to connect to people who don't write songs too - I don't think it works as a concept for live singing and Ellen, but I think for a written song contest where most participants are largely aware of current top 40 hits, it's not necessarily too left field. I think it's fair to say most people of ATRL know what a hit sounds like.
I do get your criticisms though.
Edit: Didn't see Sam reply and I wasn't giving a lecture, just trying to say I thought it was interesting to continue it. I don't speak for the entire competition but personally, I wanna see what people who don't know the intracacies think.
