I am going to try my hand at this challenge myself, since I don't think I ever participated in it.

Pleased with placing at number #22 Hopefully going to break into the Top 20 this time! Twitter challenge? Idk how to feel about that but I'll give it a huge shot!

I'm a bit confused with this challenge

Can we just copy the chorus but have it written out in full 3 times and have it only count once toward the word count? I don't like just saying (repeat chorus) because it just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing to me.

I can't speak for the rest of the judges, but I am not discriminatory as towards the genre or type of song you submit. If you do what you do to what I consider a great standard, I will give it a great score. This is a lyric writing competition, so great lyrics are what we're looking for, regardless of the type of song. I gave plenty of "fun" songs good scores this round and some meaningful/sad songs lower scores.

I know it's hard not to take it personally since you're not just submitting some random picture of a pop girl that you found on Google for a challenge, you're putting your creative mind on the line and it hurts when it's not received as well as you'd like. I get that. I've been there. But you have to try to move along and bring it for this challenge. That's why I gave everyone a second chance. Prove the judges who scored you low wrong.

I'm confused. When you say 140 words, does that mean...

Each use of a word counts towards the 140, or that I can use the same word countless times with it only counting once. ie: if I use "the" 10 times, does it count as 10 words, or as 1 word?

If you're using it in a verse, such as

Where the first a fourth are the same, then yes, it will still count.

If you want to use it like this however

This is a line
This is a line
This is another line
This is another line

I'd recommend you writing it like this

This is a line (x2)
This is another line (x2)

I can't force you to write things out a certain way, but I'd strongly recommend leaving little notes for repeated sections rather than writing them out again, even if it's not what you usually do. That's what the challenges are supposed to do, put you out of your comfort zone and test your abilities to adapt.

It's like if you were writing a tweet, or typing in a word document. Each character/word is counted as a new one regardless if you've used it previously. Each "the" will count as a separate word.
