Not how it works, but ok. If other organs have taken serious damage most of them wont recover. If he survives he'll definitely have life alternating changes.

He's conscious, and breathing without life support now. He also said hi to Khloe in the middle of the night, apparently. He has spoken a few words, including 'Good Morning'

That IS how it works. They just talked about it on the news and said just that. The main thing is his brain damage. That won't change. Everything else can recover.
