Music News: Janet's New Album to Have ThrowBack Feel

We're going back to basics and fundamental sounds of Janet. We're trying to target her fans [by making] the records that her fans will embrace. A lot of uptempo stuff makes you feel good. There's so many different colors of Janet. I'm a fan, I've always been a fan of Janet. The Rhythm Nation, the Control, the Janet. record ... those make you feel a certain way. It's been fun. I'm excited about it."

I'm really excited for this new album and WDIGMT. 2010 is going to be a big year for her if all goes right. I hope people here on ATRL and the critics don't keep pulling the "using Michael" crap. Janet is so much more than that, truly. I mean she has a career, too! Is she supposed to delay a new album for a while just because you all think she's doing it because of his death? If anything his death will inspire her to go back to her roots of feelings and not the overt sexual stuff. Give me YOU, Janet!

Although they've said it would be like her old stuff before so this doesn't get me excited--if the material is good, that's when I'll get excited.

Yeah they've been saying that with almost every release

"Make Me" is a good indicator of things to come though.

Yes, that's the thing. The song has gotten nothing but positive feedback all over the net. I would be disappointed if the album was full of "Make Me" clones because the song does grate after awhile, but for now, it's something really nice and fresh.

What I'm hoping for is just one angsty ballad about Michael. That would really complete the album. Or maybe an angry song, exposing the mass hyprocrisy that reared up after his death.

I'm not really sure what throwback means in the case of Janet.

Janet IMO has two style, the hard edgier sound of Rhythm Nation (which I think she channeled back into Velvet Rope) and the softer groove Janet (That's the Way Love Goes, Again, All For You) that type. I like the latter more.

"make me" is just too repetitive and non creative enough.
not at all the level of any song from rhythm nation

janet needs to take her time to make a deep album
maybe that's why in the meantime, she's releasing this greatest hits
