What does that mean exactly? The term global is used so loosely and it seems it just means if you chart in more countries.

I don't know. I just don't understand how bragging about how global an artist or song is is an accomplishment? Most of the time the song or artist that's "global" still hasn't sold as much as the other but because they found mediocre success everywhere except the countries that have the most people, they're "global"

I just feel the term should be gotten rid of. It's lost its meaning.

but most of the time people just use it and say "song a may have only went top 10 in one country but it charted in 13 while song b sold 10x as much as song a but only charted in 5 countries. song a is more global!"

International companies are importers and exporters, they have no investment outside of their home country. Multinational companies have investment in countries, but do not have coordinated product offerings in each country. Global companies have invested and are present in many countries. Transnational companies are much more complex organizations. They have invested in foreign operations.
