Think about it this way.
An extremely advanced alien species, has probably existed for hundreds of thousands, if not, millions of years. So there is a possibility that they have discovered, and found, and even met many, many, thousands of other alien life forms in the universe... to the point where they are no longer enticed by recent findings.. so they're probably like "Oh.. Earthlings.. just another dumb species.. let's move on"...
