Discussion: Wanna download Grand Theft Auto?

Think twice. Remember when I created that dead thread about how I had viruses? Well...

I was going to look up a game on, probably one of the biggest game sites ever created, gamespot.com and my Norton freaked and said it was unsafe.

I have been visiting this site for years and never had problems with it. I think Norton is just tracking that you CAN possibly download a Computer Threat from the site, but overall it's not a bad site.

According to this fancy site, you can enter in a site and it shows you whether a site is virus free or not and it will even pinpoint where the viruses are within the site

If you want a Trojan virus, download Grand Theft Auto City!

But 24 users from the site say it's safe and secure. But still, I thought this was interesting since I have always visited this site with no problems....

Should I still visit it? I don't see why not, it's a reliable site, just don't download anything from it, which I haven't yet!!!

I always go to gamespot for upcoming games or current games on certain consoles. They got images and video previews and that's how I decide whether or not to invest 60 bucks on a game. This is the site that does that.

But I guess I haven't visited it since I installed my Norton Antivirus Program. They really shouldn't say the site is UNSAFE when it's just one measely download to avoid, because overall the site is SAFE if you don't download anything.

I use this all the time for game reviews and what not...

norton is ****. i wouldn't take anything they tell you literally.
also im not sure what you're talking about but you can download games through *******s. if you find the right one most are safe.

omg i got infected with Vundo like 3 years ago. It was so hard to remove it. It's not a virus per se, it's spyware. I downloaded like 5 different anti-spyware programs and only one could remove it. It was SpySweeper if i remember correctly.

I hate Norton also. It takes too much system resources. I use AVG.

AVG is too time-consuming whenever your computer starts, I use Norton and its been doing quite well until recently, after I installed a cracked version of Super Collapse (

) and it had Trojan and other 12 other "un-delete-able" viruses on my computer.

It even infected all my other applications (only Mozilla being left untouched) and my computer started working like a freak!

I had to re-install everything and vowed not to download games anymore

lmfao, the Norton crew decided to give the site a green check. It's now safe to visit the site. Just don't download that GTA: Vice City

I'm sure now that people are aware of it, they took it down? I hope so...
